Family portraits
The grandparents took 3 photo's after I instructed them where to let the lights hit their faces. The kids have the perfect "Rembrandt Triangles"on their cheek. It's not rocket science once you know what to look for, but you don't know what you don't know.
On the wall, I would place the guys to the right of the girls. Men looking out into the world, for prey or danger is a bit more masculine.

Sketch
For my fans that don't have a deep wallet, I recently started to make what I call sketches in shades of Grey pastel on paper.
Normally a sketch leaves the background undone, but that's not how Rembrandt worked, and that's not how I work.
The effect of light and shadow gets completely lost if you leave out the background.
These are 8 by 12 inch for 99 $
A modest frame is included.
The price for a 20x30 cm (8 x 12 inch) black and white portrait from a submitted photo is $200, also delivered in a modest black frame. Quite a bit sharper that a sketch.
A black and white drawing of your photo, 12 x 16 inch, even more details, costs $250. also comes in a modest black frame.
The 12 x 16 inch color is my primary focus, barely distinguishable from a photo from a distance of two meters. I spend about 10 hours on it. Yours for $350.
Order quickly to enjoy this pricing. Less than $35 per hour, compare that to having your oil changed.
It's a good thing living in the Netherlands is cheaper than USA.
It's possible to work from one of your photo's, sometimes that's the only option.
For a better result we have a video call that I record during which I give instructions to place you or the model in desirable light.
Most of the drawings are done that way. I make a screenshot of the best moment of a short interaction, which often gives a spontanious feel to it.
If I come in person, the price depends on the distance to Leeuwarden, 50 cents per kilometer, If I can reach you by car.
Museum-quality frame is $250 extra. I highly recommend that for full colour drawings.
Prices are net; I personally don't like unpleasant surprises.
For multiple people, B&W is $200, color is €250 per head. The size may be different depending on the composition.
Below, a drawing of a 50 year old photo of 3 sisters, size 16 x 20 inch would cost $600 with modest frame,
full color $750 in Premium frame and UV protecting glass.
The price of a 60x80cm oil painting on a board is €4500.
The old masters only used canvas for very large paintings, board is more precise.
This includes a shining finnish, shipping and framing in a heavy 15cm gold-ish frame as you see in the above picture.
